Across three editions (2015, 2017, 2019) Florian Kuhlmann took part as artist, curator and host — from a bed-borne performance in Düsseldorf to an open-source pavilion, a gallery embassy, a WLAN router in a museum, and a lecture in São Paulo.

exploit & disappear

digital3mpire / THE HUB, Düsseldorf · 30 Oct 2015 · celebrating the opening of the 2015 biennale (50+ online pavilions, 40+ IRL embassies) with a performance/installation by Tanja Ritterbex, Isabella Fürnkäs and Isreal Aten: self-made phone videos meet found internet footage as a perpetual collage, printed onto a bedsheet; Aten types on that same bed, his words projected into the room. Bubblegum-pop lyrics, decontextualised, form the soundtrack — a dialogue on self-exploitation and dematerialization

super-information-high-market still live ↗

THE WRONG Internet Pavilion, 2017 · "Art as an open source superproduct" — a pavilion built as an open-source repository on GitHub: instead of a market, a git logic of committing and spreading. Open 24/7, Beta version 0.96, an open call still running — interested artists just make a pull request. Discussed in Annet Dekker, Curating Digital Art (2021)

the wrong router

NRW-Forum Düsseldorf · part of the 2019 biennale, with the kind support of Alain Bieber. A WLAN router installed in the museum entrance serves an offline exhibition to every phone in reach. On it: Achim Mohné's sound work — "You are listening to the digital data packet of an analog photograph of the first analog cassette recorder from 1963 … sent by a Wi-Fi router in under one second" (47:12 min). Curated with the Darktaxa collective, driven by Michael Reisch and Florian Kuhlmann
